Another great GAP Year option…Antipodeans Abroad

05/09/2020 by Erin Shale

Antipodeans Abroad offers a number of exciting and challenging programs for students completing secondary school as well as for students completing tertiary studies.

Antipodeans Abroad (www.antipodeans.com.au) offers a range of exciting options for young people. The website has some inspirational testimonials from young people who have completed a program with this organisation. One young person talks about finding herself as being one of the greatest benefits of completing a program with Antipodeans Abroad. The passionate way these students write clearly shows the success of these programs.

Here are some of the programs offered:

Summer Camp Leaders

Students work and can also earn money while helping to run camps in the UK or Canada.

Unibreak

Tertiary students can complete 4-week international volunteering placements in the interesting areas of health care, teaching, community development and sports coaching.  Placements are offered in Cambodia, India, the Maldives and Nepal.

Faculty Placements

In conjunction with many Australian universities, students can complete a faculty placement of 2-4 weeks where they gain invaluable real-life experience to enrich current tertiary studies.

Schoolies Unearthed

A really unique alternative to joining thousands of students in an Australian setting for a schoolies week is to go to a foreign country in a fun-filled but worthwhile project. Students can go to Borneo, Thailand or Indonesia for a 10-day program where they complete a combination of helping a local community and also doing some sightseeing and travel. The program is well organised and really gives students a complete change of scenery and an opportunity to step outside their comfort zone while being in a safe environment. A formal GAP placement can also be a great addition to a young person’s Resume while an informal get-together with friends at a beach house would probably not impress future employers.

Check the website to see details of other great programs on offer.
